My best friend Jessica and I have been friends since middle school. We ended up at different high schools and went to college at opposite ends of the state. Yet we maintained our friendship though late night texts and calls. When Eddie and I moved back to our hometown of Sacramento, CA this summer, it was the first time we had lived within 15 minutes of each other.
Jessica went to school for business and is a talented graphic designer and artist. I went to school for fashion merchandising and marketing. I knew I wanted to start my own brand someday, but I’m not a fashion designer. That’s when it clicked - Jessica could be our designer!
Our brand is called Stoked On Sunshine. It’s a lifestyle fashion brand for rad women. Our graphic tees are inspired by adventure and the outdoors. They are eco-friendly and we donate 5% of our net proceeds to non-profits that support women and the environment.
It feels amazing to know that we are doing something we are passionate about while also giving back to causes that are very meaningful to us.
These jeans are giving me all the seventies vibes!

This is the first post in a new series called Everything Wedding. As you may know, my fiancé Eddie and I are planning our wedding and will get married in June 2020. As I’ve been planning, I’ve found other wedding blog posts about the process really helpful and inspiring. Follow along as we plan the wedding of my Pinterest boat dreams.
Soon after Eddie and I got engaged in December 2018 I started researching wedding venues. Getting married at Lake Tahoe was my dream but all of the venues were way out of our budget. Many venues were over $5,000 for the location itself and then you had food and beverage minimums that you had to buy from the venue that were over $10,000. That was just too expensive for us.
By January I had decided that we should get married in Amador County Wine Country. We decided on this because there were a few vineyards that had beautiful outdoor areas with ponds and grass. Plus the vineyards were much cheaper than anything we had found in Lake Tahoe.
Since we were still a year and a half out from the wedding, I didn’t contact either of the two vineyards we were considering about booking a wedding. I wasn’t too worried because I found online that both vineyards did weddings. We visited the vineyards in July and after our visit I emailed them about availability and pricing. Turns out both vineyards had stopped doing weddings!
At this point I was frustrated because these seemed like the only beautiful outdoor venues in our price range in our area. I continued looking online for venues for the next few nights and eventually stumbled upon the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion in Lake Tahoe.
The Hellman-Ehrman Mansion looks like a woodsy castle straight out of a fairytale. I’m not the bride who wants to be a princess, but the beautiful grounds will be perfect for the reception. Plus we will have the ceremony on the lake.
Since the mansion is inside Sugar Pine Point State Park, the venue wasn’t too expensive. We also opted to have our wedding on a Friday in order to save $1,250. So our venue will only cost $3,500, which includes the lakefront ceremony location and the reception location. At this location we also can pick all of our own vendors so we don’t have to get stuck purchasing everything from the venue.
All in all the wedding venue selection process didn't go as we planned. But we ended up with our dream venue. We can’t wait to get married here!
Today I took a yoga class at Heavenly overlooking Lake Tahoe at an elevation of 9,123 ft.
I decided to take this class because it sounded like an incredible experience but also a something that would really challenge me. I recently have committed to practicing yoga regularly. I’ve decided to to do this because not only is yoga something that conditions the mind and body, but it is also something that I’m not great at. I’m committed to being decent at yoga. I probably will never be the person who can do a handstand or some of the challenging poses, but I want to take it seriously because its one of the only sports that helps me focus on being in the moment. Being completely in the moment is something I have only felt myself doing when I’m doing something challenging and that takes focus. Yoga pushes me to my physical limits and in doing so causes me to focus on nothing else but the class I am in. In class I don’t feel anxious. I don’t think about my to-do list. I just think about how much longer I can hold in downward dog. Yoga is helping me build a strong foundation.

Started the morning off by hiking the Lake Clementine Trail in Auburn, CA. The trail is about 4.5 miles round trip along the American River and leads up to Lake Clementine where the water falls from the dam into the canyon. It’s a pretty easy hike although about half of it is uphill. Just make sure you get there early as parking is limited! Parking is also $10 as it is a state park. Check out photos from the hike below!
Just bought the cutest patio set today! Excited to be able to finally eat outside!
